Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Olsen. Many of you probably know my father, Jim Olsen, one of the dedicated founders of the Kelly’s Ride organization. Kelly Vodges was my cousin. I was always inspired by her energetic enthusiasm and personal generosity in everything she enjoyed, personally and professionally. Kelly was, and continues to be, the consummate role model.
Today, all of the people who support Kelly’s ride acknowledge and encourage one of Kelly’s passions – cycling. As a young woman who understood and valued the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, Kelly used riding as a way to spend time and connect with friends and family. She never missed an annual Ocean City ride with her Dad.
As I am now stepping out on my own in the professional realm, I frequently think about Kelly and always strive to mimic her drive and dedication. My passion is promoting health and fitness. And I have developed a career that aims to support those looking for help in that area of their life. Kelly’s Ride and Kelly’s Kids Inc provide a unique opportunity for me to grow as a professional, but more importantly support a cause that remembers a person who has provided much of the inspiration that has gotten me to where I am today.
My goal is to inspire everyone, young and old, to become informed, active, and living healthy lifestyles. The information provided by the media is loaded with the latest fads and the quick fix solutions. I believe the real solution is education. I teach people how safe and efficient exercise and nutrition can enhance your life immensely.
Kelly’s Ride is a perfect opportunity for people to become active and take the first steps in making positive lifestyle changes – all in support of an amazing cause! And I am here to help! This column will be a monthly feature of the Kelly’s Ride newsletter. Here I will answer questions, offer exercise and nutrition tips and provide any type of support for those who want to ride, or anyone who has health and fitness questions – which can be completely unrelated to riding. This column is meant to be a tool for you – I am here to support Kelly’s Ride, all of it’s riders, and all potential riders out there. Don’t be shy! I look forward to hearing from you all!
